Dr. Hytham Elkolaly
OWNER | OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Elkolaly is a licensed optometrist dedicated to providing thorough, patient-centred eye care to individuals and families in the Exeter and South Huron community. With a strong focus on both eye health and visual clarity, Dr. Elkolaly takes pride in helping patients see comfortably and confidently at every stage of life.
Dr. Elkolaly earned a Bachelor of Medical Science degree with a specialization in medical biophysics at Western University and completed his Optometry degree and Masters at Aston University in the United Kingdom. During training, Dr. Elkolaly developed a special interest in dry eye disease, ocular disease management, myopia control, contact lenses and pediatric care.
At Exeter Family Eye Care, Dr. Elkolaly provides comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and management of ocular disease, and personalized vision solutions tailored to each patient’s needs and lifestyle. Dr. Elkolaly believes in taking the time to educate patients, answer questions, and ensure they feel comfortable and confident in their eye care decisions.
Dr. Elkolaly is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and Canadian Association of Optometrists and stays current with the latest advancements in optometric care through ongoing education.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Elkolaly enjoys traveling, playing basketball, and spending time with his three young kids. Dr. Elkolaly looks forward to building long-term relationships with patients and helping the community maintain healthy vision for years to come.
Dr. Cheryl Letheren
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Letheren brings a passion for delivering thorough, personalized eye care and is dedicated to helping patients of all ages see their best. She earned her degrees from both Western University and the University of Waterloo.
Dr. Letheren also works at Parkwood Hospital in London, a rehabilitation hospital where she co-founded Canada’s first multidisciplinary vision rehabilitation clinic. She has extensive experience working with patients with chronic conditions, motor vehicle injuries, head injuries, developmental conditions, learning disabilities and concussions in adults and children.
She has clinical interests in fitting all types of contact lenses, glasses, and managing ocular and systemic disease conditions.
Dr. Letheren currently serves on three boards and volunteers on several committees focused on vision-related concerns. Cheryl is also about to launch two podcasts, WOW Health (Women Talking about Women’s health) with two other allied health professionals and Dr Cheryl EYEDOC.
Dr. Letheren has deep roots in rural Ontario, having spent summers on her aunt’s farm near Tavistock and growing up with grandparents who used to own a market-garden farm in Etobicoke. Outside of work, she enjoys travel, reading, crafting, and theatre events. She has three adult children, a pug, and a cat who thinks it’s a dog.
